Easter And Spring Poetry

old and new
memories grow together
Spring flowers and trees

lily of the valley
fragrance of forgiveness
memories of love

losses in life
low setting sun
through branches of trees
now rises again
as birds quietly sing

Sunday rest
prayers and gifts
of Winter with
new hope
for Spring

praying the Psalms
and reading poetry
books and journals
I write new poems
about everyday life

primroses growing
from garden to lawn
deep decades of roots
strengthen my faith
for new dreams

Three New Poems

Quiet Hours

quiet hours
of reading
before dawn

reflection
of a lamp
in the window

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Psalm 119:105 (KJV)

Seasons

once the tree grew tall
before the Emerald Ash Borer
and then a storm

hosta plants
grew green again
around the stump
in Spring

they grew large
and flowered well
so blessed by rain
and a red begonia planter

now there is an
orange pumpkin
on the ash tree stump

and hosta leaves are gold
in the brilliant morning sun

Routine Care

routine care
and happy to wait my turn
I watch the world go by
and my heart
fills with love

October Turns

cooler weather and strong winds
all the leaves falling and we see the shapes of trees
light streams into the house as the sun moves south
red geraniums still bloom
October turns to face November

Summer Poems

roses in the sun
some ending
some beginning
and some in full bloom
good to grow older

wildflowers grow
by fields of corn
words of poetry
uplift my soul
keep me strong

hosta
blue chicory
Queen Anne’s lace
and daylilies
