Three Poems From The Archives

tree branches
bowed to the ground
seemingly half-broken
covered with new leaves
my notebook of prayers

March 2017

answers to prayers
I did not know to pray
verses of Psalms

April 2017

as if they could
store the sun
small blankets
on a chair
add color to
the scene
as they await
to warm
another time

AND SO MY SOUL

And so my soul
Spills over
Into print again
As the sun spills
Over flowers
And the neighborhood
Sleeps

Endurance is eloquent
And marigolds are
Admirable because
They bloom
So long

Oh, my heart
Is tender
Yet God keeps it
Strong
And so my soul
Spills over
Into print again
