Winter begins
today is the shortest
day of light

Northern Hemisphere

And tomorrow
I will begin to watch
the days grow longer

Write new poems
about the light

Sunday morning
music and books
I know by heart
yet always more
to learn

sometimes it seems
the older I grow
the more simple
my poems become

and yet they are
supported by years
all the ways life
challenges and grows

and I am grateful
for every day
and look forward
by God’s grace
