August afternoon
green leaves
on the birch tree
will be the first
to turn gold
early August
changes in the light
flowers grow well
in the gardens
hope for butterflies
books
to read again
perennials
looking up
from reading Psalms
butterfly shelters
under the eaves
in light rain
old books from thrift stores
with their art and history
someone’s name or a library
from a place far away
with an old card
a note written in the book
to encourage someone
or a gift for a special day
books that are new for me
and to read today
POEMS FROM OOSTBURG, WISCONSIN
clouds and sky
spruce tree branches still
reading poems
that offer hope
and rest

Large Print Poems is a site that we began in August 2020. I reprint poems that seem to last over the years, and also new poems in large print.
